Happy New Fiscal Year!
June 30th brought our 2006 fiscal year to an end, and with it we close the books on the best year in our history! And I might add, one of the busiest. It was a year of change and growth. We reorganized the company. We opened new offices. We implemented new systems and processes. We endured “Code Red.” We introduced The Supplemental Advantage. We hired a lot of great people.
None of this could have happened without your commitment and hard work. As I have said many times-a company is only as good as the people who represent it. I want to thank each and every one of you for your contribution. It is your dedication to excellence that makes the Supplemental Health Care brand shine a little brighter in the marketplace.
Now it’s time to look forward. The New Year is a time for excitement and optimism. We have a new budget and together we have positioned our company for an incredible year. We have never entered a year with more opportunity, more talented people, or a more focused organization, than we have now.
A new year is also the time for honesty and reality. This year won’t be a cake walk. We have never entered a year with higher budgets, more competitors, or a tougher recruiting market.
The ability to reach our potential and overcome our challenges lies within each of us. Simply put, it comes down to three very basic cornerstones: attitude, personal accountability, and perseverance.
I can be sure of one thing. There will be setbacks and successes in 2007. There always are. The question is--will we maintain a positive attitude that allows us to celebrate each win as a victory and each set-back as an opportunity to learn and develop? Will we accept personal responsibility for our daily actions and recognize that each of us is either part of the problem or part of the solution; and that ultimately the choice is ours? Finally, will each of us have the perseverance to work through the tough times and stay aggressive during the good?
525,600. Remember that number. At the beginning of the new year, each of us is given the same precious gift- 525,600 minutes. No one receives more, no one receives less. It is the one great common denominator for us all.
How each of us invests those minutes will provide the answers to our questions. The best people in business have learned how to take full advantage of each minute. They lead - and live - with a positive attitude, hold themselves accountable for top-notch results, and continually work to get a little better every single day. They shore up their weaknesses, lead by example and understand that they must live in the present to make the most of everything they do.
If you haven’t figured this CEO message out thus far, I will make it simple: It’s all about you! The only person who controls what you do and what you think is you. The only person who controls our success in 2007 is you. I, and the rest of the Senior Management Team, can set the direction, but it is the choices that each of you make a hundred times a day that drives our progress. Yes, we have a lot of opportunities this year. Yes, there will be obstacles along our way. But, in the end, the measure of our success will be a direct reflection of how you use your minutes and how much of yourself you’re willing to invest. In short, Supplemental Health Care’s success rests in your hands.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what makes me so excited and optimistic about 2007.
Remember, we all get 525,600 minutes. Ready. Set. GO!
Sincerely,
Mike Jacoutot
